Lucy Zodion Chooses Overgate Hospice as its 2019 Charity
When planning how to reach out to the local community in 2019, Lucy Zodion chose Overgate Hospice as its main charity beneficiary for 2019. The whole company voted unanimously for this local organisation which provided assistance to Lucy Zodion employee Nick Swan in his final days in 2018, before he lost his battle with a brain tumour.
Overgate Hospice is based in Calderdale, UK – the region in which Lucy Zodion operates – dedicated to caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses. Since 1981 the charity has cared for over 9,000 local people and their families. It offers free care, counselling and respite for patients(and their families).
Each day it costs the charity £7,000 to provide a patient, like Nick, with care – that’s nearly £3.5 million a year. Although partially funded by the government and National Health Service (NHS), the charity relies on donations to raise £2.5 million a year. This is where Lucy Zodion has pledged to help – its fundraising schedule is filling up fast with a whole host of activities. From sweepstakes to bake-offs, charity runs to seasonal raffles, Lucy Zodion is confident that its efforts will raise awareness and funds to contribute to the charity’s running costs. We will share how we get on throughout the year.
