Lucy Electric Brazil (LEBR) initiated a winter clothing drive to assist the Rio Negro community in Araucária. This community, home to about 720 individuals, comprises those who lost their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic, those fleeing the internal struggles and economic crisis in Venezuela, and low-income residents unable to pay rent.
These communities don’t have access to many of the amenities needed for basic living or general necessities. Keeping warm in the winter is a basic essential which many will struggle with. The clothing drive aims to help with this need and is a practical response to support the most vulnerable in the community. Large bags of winter clothes were collected and, although this is something the LEBR team try to do annually, it’s always very much appreciated by those so deeply affected by poverty.
