- Tell us about your role as Development Partner at Lucy Group. What do you find rewarding about your role?
Every day is based around the same principle – developing our people. Our team oversee the variety of pathways through which Lucy Group achieves this, including apprenticeships, graduate schemes, work experience, internships, partnerships with external organisations, upskilling, and skills evaluations.
I enjoy the opportunities for collaboration and relationship building that my role offers. I collaborate with a wide range of departments in the business to ensure that Lucy Group has a skilled workforce in every area. This has allowed me to build positive relationships with colleagues across the organisation over the years.
“Every day goes too quickly! I am lucky to be able to partner with most departments and build strong relationships across the business”.
2. What are your top tips for successfully gaining careers opportunities?
First, it’s important to understand the range of opportunities available. For students considering further education, I recommend looking at degree apprenticeships in a specific field. Specialising early will enable you to become a niche candidate on the market. For graduates, I recommend investigating internships during your holidays. Completing internships demonstrates commitment and dedication to professional development, both of which put you at the top of the CV shortlist.
Second, it’s crucial to come across well in interviews. You should thoroughly research the company you’re applying to. Understanding the requirements of the business you’re interviewing at will enable you to make a good first impression. In addition, you should think about how you come across. Communication is key, and good communication includes positive body language and eye contact. Finally, you should consider your transferable skills before any interview. Focusing on your strengths will help you give personal examples of the value you could add to your future team.
“Communication is key in any role: the impact of positive body language and eye contact should not be underestimated”.
3. How does Lucy Group work to develop its people?
